One House, Two Homes by MPR Design Group

Portland Street Duplex is modern house designed by MPR Design Group in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is one house with two separated homes.

Architects from MPR Design Group had interesting job to do. How to put two families on the same site and give them privacy and separated lifes? They designed modern house with two mirrored homes. Even though the house in not obviously different from other residences in neighborhood, interiors and backyard are literally cut in half.

Both homes are built across 3 floors and have narrow backyards with swimming pools. Balconies and terraces are carefully designed to give intimacy and to prevent residents to interrupt each others. Although this solution and design seems to be a little bit drastic, it could be just perfect in some situations.
